Self-portrait of André Cottavoz, 1980s. This is a wonderful oil on canvas in pale colors with strong expressiveness. In perfect condition. André Cottavoz (07/29/1922) was a great French painter. After studying at the école des Beaux Arts in Lyon, he received the Prix National de Peinture in 1949 and a year later founded "La Nouvelle Figuration de l'Ecole de Lyon." In the following years he participated in a series of exhibitions in France and abroad: Geneva, Milan, Basel, Turin, Amsterdam, Caracas and Tokyo. In 1962 he settled permanently in Vallauris, where he worked alongside Picasso, Pignon, Chagall and the ceramist Roger Collet. Cottavoz exhibited his works in such prestigious venues as the Palais de l'Europe, the Tour d'Argent in Tokyo, the Galerie Longchamps, the Chateau de Vascoeuil, the Chateau de Hauterives and the Chateau de la Chaux-de-Fonds in Paris.
